You know it’s that time of the month.   Yep, its the time you feel like you need to make that monthly newsletter, email or flyer that explains all the things happening in your studio or venues.   Now Facebook has introduced a new ad format that you can use to your advantage to create a wonderfully crafted ad covering all of your events in just a few clicks – with Collection ads!

Collection ads help increase the likelihood of a event being discovered featuring your primary image or video above relevant product images directly from your website. Clicking on the ad leads a person to an immersive, fast-loading browsing experience on Facebook that can showcase a minimum of 8 to 50 events or products at one time. Tapping on an event will take the customer to the event detail page on your website.  Collections are also designed to be easy to set up, with Facebook doing the heavy lifting of choosing the right products to showcase from your event/product catalog.

Set up your first Collection Ad – Step by Step

If you are using our Facebook ad integration features for retargeting ads then this article is for you!   This post will walk you through step by step on how to post your own Collection ad and take advantage of your product feeds to make a single ad and announce all of your upcoming events!

Create a Campaign

Through your Facebook Ad Manager panel create a new campaign and choose conversions.  In this example we will call it “June Monthly Events”.

Create a Conversion based Ad and give it a friendly name.


Create an Ad Set

Go ahead and create an ad set name.  This can be unique to the monthly events you are announcing and you can keep monthly ad sets within the same campaign, for organization and sanity.  In this example we will create an ad set name called “June Conversion Ads – Fan Connected” as we will send our monthly event announcements to our Facebook fans.  Using our Facebook integration you will see your pixel is already primed and ready to track conversions with purchasing events.

Create your Ad Set and give it a friendly name.


Limit your audience to your Facebook fans.


Define your budget as you choose.  Since this example is a monthly announcement to your fans you will want to probably end it within the middle of the month.  Conversion optimization can be set to 7 days and unless you have tremendous activity and sales this setting is will unlikely not make a difference for you.

Create your Collection Ad

Now let’s create this ad using the new Collection ad format.   Give your ad a catchy heading and text.  Ad a featured image or video.  You decide the look and feel of this ad.

With the collection ad this will allow you to link your product catalogs directly to your featured image or video you showcase.   IMPORTANT!  Select the appropriate level of your event product catalog.   Is your ad based on ALL your events or just a particular set?   You can decide.  Remember you need to be running at least 8 events at any given time for this type of ad to work.

Complete the remaining steps to create the ad including a URL to your site and ensure that it is connected to your Facebook pixel to track purchases and conversions.

Publish your ad!

Choose the new COLLECTION ad format.


Link to your product catalogs properly. Choose all the events or just a subset.


Your final ad will look something like this. Your featured image or video with a collection of your events, dynamically linked and ready to go!
